HUNTING & FISHING
Hunting and fishing are present in the manners of Métis Métis especially in North America. For most, this tradition has been passed from father to son for generations and generations. Fishing is like hunting livelihoods and also, importantly, a tradition.
On the picture you can see Norman Samson, Samson and Metis Clan citizen of the Métis Nation Contemporary, posing proudly with this beautiful jack captured north of St-Michel des Saints, near the reserve Athicamek of Manouan. A natural brook trout of 4 lbs 2 oz. a beautiful palette as we say.
I know that many Métis in Quebec have good catches should be on this page, so do not delay and let us send them, along with a text, and we will put on the site.
If at times you will also sport fishing just to make a decision that will make your pride, the trophy to share with your friends, I suggest Pulaski in the State of New York. In the Salmon River River, which flows into Lake Ontario, you'll get your money. This river is open all year but I think the best time to go is in mid-October, when the big Chinook salmon up the river to lay its eggs.
This river is considered one of the best in the world. It contains brown trout, coho salmon, the stellhead and other interesting species such as the famous Chinook salmon as you see in the picture, a Chinook 39 pounds and 36 inches long. For us it is a great catch, but for the Salmon River is respectable since it can take Chinook approaching 100 pounds. For this reason it deserves the title of King Salmon. If you want more information on this river, contact me by email maikan@metisquebec.com and I will be happy to provide you the information you want. The King Salmon fishing is from mid-October. This beautiful river is the meeting place for fly fishermen experienced the world, and also, fishermen like to fish with a spoon. It is no more expensive to go fishing in Pulaski than going to the providers of Quebec. I think it's an experience, an experience that one never forgets.
When the Chinook up the river this time of year, it is black, true black, as a mature and, once out of the river, we see easily that its color changes from black to silvery gray as it is found in the Great Lake Ontario before his rise in the river.
Be careful, this lovely nanny is not stuffed! Indeed, it is the largest black bear I've seen. Just watch his head and wondering if we would really like to meet one face to face in a quiet forest trail. This decision comes as the beautiful north of St-Michel-des-Saints, near the reserve of Atichamek Manouan. The nanny was shot in the arc by Norman Samson, Samson Clan, a specialist in bow hunting and for all types of big game. After being mortally wounded by an arrow, the majestic bear at that time showed a huge anger by venting screams amazing., Later, he lay down on the ground to make his last breath. It uses the fat of the bear's head to wash once a year is enough, which is great for the scalp. It is also used to scrub the boots or other footwear in the winter, because this fat is an excellent protection against water and calcium.
Fishing Lake Crépeau north of St-Michel-des-Saints, we have had good sport, but no big catches. We spent a beautiful day we are satisfied with our income fishing day.
Fly fishing only with a hopper CS
Robert Samson proud of her beautiful golden and rightly so. The gold was taken from the St. Lawrence from Lake St-Pierre, a play about five lbs. Robert is also a fishing guide so those who want to take the bin like you know what to do.
Peter Samson Metis Clan in Lanaudière is also a proud fisherman. He proudly shows this beautiful gold that will provide the water after the photo but he lesser chain. I did not know that fishing was allowed in Ala chain MSE sector.
This jack is Ouareau River, near Grabtree
As fishing is a means of survival for native, my brother Robert continues this tradition and important means of survival for the Métis. as our government denies us this right you have to go in small doses. But this is not a decision like that we all eat our fill.
